Types of Monitors

There are many types of monitors available to go with any type of desktop computer you have. There are high density screens, there are touch screens, there are wide screens and even small screens available. How much do you sit in front of the computer and look at the monitor? If you work on a computer all day long, then a larger screen where the font is increased might be a good idea. The larger screen can reduce squinting and strain on your eyes, keeping them healthier for you.

A laptop doesn’t have many options for the screen, other than the dpi that comes with the system. You could always hook it in to a free standing monitor when you are at home working, but when you are stuck with just the laptop, you will still only have the small screen available. Laptops do come in different sizes, but the widest one is typically 17” since the laptops are meant to be compact and easily portable. A screen that is bigger might as well be a desk top at that point, since it would be heavy to carry around and cost a lot of money.

Costs for Monitors

A monitor has a price tag dependent on the dpi resolution of it and how large it is. A small screen on a desktop could cost between $200 and $400. An LCD screen on a wide screen laptop might be an option worth $500. And then there are all kinds of price ranges when you get in to large screen monitors for the desk top computer. Those screens could cost anywhere from $200 to $2000. Gamers typically want very high resolution so they can see the graphics of the game and follow the action closely. Monitors on a laptop can’t be replaced easily and once they are damaged, it usually results in a new laptop being purchased.
